Greetings and welcome!

I'm Mike McConathy, Jr. I'm pretty much a LIFER here in the small East Texas town of Eustace. I live here with my wife, Debbie (since 1987), where we raised our three kids into fine adults. I've been a truck driver, lumber salesman, light duty mechanic and many other things, including a semi-professional musician during my life. I'm a born-again follower of Jesus Christ and strive to live my life as such.

I was originally licensed in 1985 (KB5CAN). I upgraded to General (N5KNE) in 1986. Due to life circumstances, I got away from the hobby after a few years and allowed my license to expire in 1996. In 2014, I got the bug again and started over with my Technician license (KG5BGW) in April. In October of 2015, I achieved my General upgrade and in December of 2015, I received my vanity call (N5KNE) and am back to where I left off nearly 20 years later. I passed my Extra exam on October 1, 2016 and got my licence grant on Octobter 11, 2016. It's been a long winding road, but I'm enjoying the hobby more than ever. Now, as of March 14, 2017, I have completed my license with my 1X2 (W5UC) call. I'd like to thank a couple of special friends, W5IB, KA5RRG and numerous others that have helped me along the way to get to this point. As of 12/12/2015, when I got my 80 meter dipole in the air, I am able to communicate on 80 meters through 70 centimeters on all bands, except for 30 and 60 meters. Hope to catch you ON or IN the air!

Sorry, no QSL exchange.

Thanks for dropping by, God bless and 73,

Mike

I've been asked for some personal pictures. (I have no idea why). Anyway, here are a few that tell a just a little about "Who I Am".

Debbie. The only wife I've had. Married in 1987. Really my better half!

Below are our "NOW GROWN" kids that we're very proud of. I'm looking for a "GROWN UP"  version. I'll post when available.

Next is my "ALTER EGO". I worked bars and clubs here in Texas for over 30 years nearly every weekend. Between full-time day jobs, helping Debbie raise the kids and working weekends, no wonder I didn't have time for radio for 20+ years. I've been very fortunate to get to open for and be on shows with some of the biggest names in country music. I'm not that good, just been "blessed"to play with some great musicians and I could remember the words to lots of songs. I hope you've enjoyed this little detour. 73
