I have been licensed since 1980 and have spent most of my life working in the electronics field. I started in high school at a local communications shop and was introduced to ham radio there. Worked there all through Tech school and then went to work for Electra Corp, the people who made all the Bearcat scanners. After there worked for the WISH TV the CBS affiliate in Indianapolis as an engineer then went to Uniden for a brief time. Then for the next 18 years was self employed doing some Radio Station consulting as well as computer repair and consulting. Somewhere around 2000 I lost interest in Amateur radio and pretty much didn’t do anything until recently.

I have had some health problems that have given me a lot of spare time so here we go again. My how things change in 15 years! I am now in the process of upgrading all my old stuff and getting some antennas organized.

I currently use a Ten Tec Omni VI+ with a Cushcraft Mini Beam up about 35 feet. I like the digital modes as well as CW.

Other than ham radio I am active in my church and collect and repair antique radios. I also like my guns, my motorcycle.

My wife of 35 years and I live in a very small town of about 800 people and have three kids and 6 grand daughters.

My latest project is a Bitx 40 meter QRP rig that is sold out of India from www.hfsigs.com . it has been fun building it and getting it going. I have made numerous PSK31 contacts. You can get more info and see lots of pictures at my website www.jeffcummings.com
