My interest in this hobby dates back to grade school when I took an interest in listening for far away AM radio stations into the wee hours. That eventually morphed into SWLing and CB radio. I dropped off of the radio grid during high school and college but my interest caught on again a few years later after a work friend (Mike - W9MK) introduced me to the hobby and gave me my Novice test. Shortly thereafter, I accepted a relocation offer to the Milwaukee area. After the chaos of moving, having two active kids and a career change, my gear didn't see the light of day again for another 25 years.

Around 2013, I stumbled upon some YouTube videos that rekindled my interest. I joined a local club, procrastinated for many more months, and finally got back on the air. While my interests seem to wander all over the place, I especially enjoy working special event stations and state QSO parties. My interest in portable operations got off to a good start with a handful of NPOTA activations.
