Each year since 2001 the radioclub of Passendale (better known as Passchendaele) is qrv at Tyne Cot Cemetery during the week of November 11th. Before this period the ZWVRAC was qrv with the callsign ON4AZW at different locations With the enormous efforts of some members ON4PTC has grown to be one of the biggest field stations in the region. 4 HF transceivers in multi-multi-qro with 8 HF antenna's on a field of only 100 by 100 metres. In the early days we still kept our log with paper and pencil but now it is done with 5 computers in a network with fiber connection. Since a few years we only use mono band antennas with all necessary filters.

Every year we have a lot of visitors and every HAM operator is welcome to take the microphone or cw-key. Food and drinks are provided. Many B&B in the area

THE BATTLE OF PASSCHENDAELE 31/07/1917 – 10/11/1917 The battle of Passchendaele formed the last part of the third battle of Ypres. With this, general Haig tried to force his way through the enemey lines towards the Belgian harbours. It has been a hard fight for 100 days to advance only 8 km. Passchendaele was the terminal point. The losses on both sides were unimaginable: 463.000 dead, wounded or missing. The names Zonnebeke, Hill 62 and Zillebeke were terrifying, even before they arrived there, “But Passchendaele was even worse, it was simply disgusting”. The Passchendaele Award is a memorial of this insane war. The radioclub Z.W.V.R.A.C. is qrv from July the 31th until November the 11th with the call: “CQ-remember” on every amateur band. Each radio contact with a member of the ZWVRAC is good for 1 point. The clubstation ON4AZW gives 3 points. All QSO’s via the relaystation ON0FF (Flanders Field repeater) are also valid. Each QSO with the fieldstation ON4PTC is valid for all the necessary points for the award All licensed amateurs and SWL’s need: for the Belgians: 10 points; for the Europeans: 5 points; outside Europe: 3 points Send your request together with the log and/or the dated QSL cards with 18 Euro, or 23 US$ (no cheques)to:
