Enjoying the hobby since 1991. Other call is VE6KAD. Antenna building and RTTY contests are some of my favourites.

Jan. 2016 got really interested in the satellites. I enjoy both FM and Linear sats. Beginning Nov/2016 put up a cushcraft A270-10S vertically at 30 degree on a old TV rotor 4feet off the ground, because thats what I had kicking around. The finished plan is homebrew 2m and 70cm cross yagis, coaxial relays, and AZ/EL rotor. Prior to this, all my FM sat contacts were made using an Elk while standing inside the garage.

Dec. 2016 built and installed on the old TV rotator, 5el 2m cross yagi and 8el 70cm cross yagi with coax relays to switch polarity, which has been a big improvement. Still playing around with some old U100 rotators to add elevation and update azimuth rotor. Need to add some potentiometers to the rotators and then tie into an Arduino for automated tracking.

Aug. 2017 now using two Aliance rotators for AZ/EL controlled by an Arduino (K3NG sketch) with SatPC32. Two Arrow antennas with coax relays for polarity switching. FT-847 for home rig.

Been having fun with packet contacts through ISS and NO-84.

PODXS 070 nr 1539 and skcc club nr 11000.

I use eQSL, QRZ and LOTW. I DO NOT have paper cards.

Heres the family weekend get away spot where I have a 32 foot crank up tower, supporting a 80/40 meter dipole with the ends at 18 feet, running east/west. For 20 meters I have made an elevated vertical that one person can set up in 20 minutes.

Not the easiest to see in the pic, but this is the vertical I set up for 20 meters. The posts are cedar 2x2 with 14 gauge wire for the radials and telescoping aluminum for the vertical element. Actually, I think this pic is of one that I cut for 17 meters. Thats the neighbors in the background who have a great rf noise generating generator. Thankfully they don't run it much.

40M normal

40M with local noise. Anyone have any ideas what this is?
