Thanks for looking me up on QRZ, the name is Ian, I have been a HAM since 1974.  My calls have been VK2YHT (Limited Call), VK2NTR (Novice Call), VK2DGA (Advanced Call) and currently VK2IE (Advanced Call).

I have worked in telecommunications industry for the past 49 years working in mainly in IP data communications with the last few years in digital TV, satellite, smart call centres and IP network delivery both domestic and international to large corporate customers as a technical project manager.  Interesting times in telecommunications, when I started my work career, I was working with 50bps, now the company is working with speeds of 1Tbps.

I have been interested in digital modes in my amateur radio life mainly in RTTY and PSK.  Had some time off due to work and study commitments, I have gotten back into ham radio and now enjoying JT65.

The shack currently consists of an Icom IC-746 and a 40 metre horizontal quad loop that is sitting about 6 metres above the ground.

The bands I am found on are 40 metres voice and JT65, 20/15/10 metres on JT65 with 2 metres for comms with local hams.

I am a member of the ARRL.

I use eQSL and LoTW for QSL'ing.  They are generally uploaded each evening.

The JT65 programs I use are:

  • JT65-HF HB9HQX-Edition

  • Hamspots.net/JT65

  • JTAlert

  • eQSL & LoTW
