Ant's 80m Loop and Mosley pro-57b

In the process of getting the Mosley up in the air we destroyed my loop I was using. So I found the SRI fan dipole.

Made one and just put the wire for 80m on it to tune and test. Wow what a difference it makes. So far it works great good sig out and great signal reports back. it uses a 4" pvc pie 2' long. connections are 5.5" apart from the top. copper strap inside to connect everything together. and an ugly balun on the bottom.

Here is a link to the site I found it on.

The Mosley Pro-57b is up! about 40ft from the gound. got to finish the ARRL CW contest with it! even heard Guam!

Antena 80m Loop

I Currently use a 80m loop with a 4:1 air wound balun. I have made them with ladder line, Baluns/Unins, The best one I used was 800ft with a G5RV tied in total length was 850ft. I had to use a Large tunner but boy did it work and hear well, I wanted a good antenna for 40m working my WAS and found these. I was like why havn't I heard or seen these before. They are easy to arrange, do not need to be round or square, they can take any shape to accomodate the antenna field you have. The higher/longer the better. When I get back out to my property I plan to put one up for each band that will not need any tunners. I also found plastic rollers in the Lowes hardware section they are great in helping the antenna roll in its postion as you tighten it up so it does not hurt the wire when you stretch it out.

Length (in feet) = 1005 divided by frequency (in MHz). for a Loop.

Mosley Classic-33            Modified to                 Mosley Pro-57b                                               HF Loop

Working on a new tower going to put my Mosley Modified pro-33 to a pro-57b

The Mosley Antenna is a Classis Pro-33 and I modified it to a Pro-57b. Itook it all apart and with the help of mosley and the manual they sent me I was able to take it apart, Inventory each piece and size, then I basicly built the 57b. I had to order more aluminum, 2 traps, amd replace the tunning rods. The one in the picture is the classic pro-33 up in Mo. I am still in construction phase of this tower project.

If you do any wire antennas you need to make one of these!

I Made my air chamber 8" longer and put an open face reel on mine. with 20lb line. Hardest part is getting the 2.5" pvc pipe you will have to order that online.

CSV19 Pneumatic Antenna Launching System

http://www.antennalaunchers.com/antlaunching.html <<<<<<<<<<<< here is the instructions.

. I was using a Fishing pole with a large sinker to throw my strings in the trees. I found an antenna launcher design. I made it and WOW it shoots a tennis ball 500ft stright up! I put a an open face fishing reel on the front and twala instant retractor! shoot over the obstacle i need, cut ball off tie on the string, reel it back, then tighten string to raise antenna. no more fighting the trees. Hint it realy works great when you have a helper to raise wire antenna's!

I have been dealing with a lot of personal issues and griefs the last year and a half. It has taken a lot of time to heal with all the set backs in life. Went QRT and tried to deal with them. my appologies to everyone for my disapearance. I just had to get some quiet time to cope. Hopefully I will get back to being on the air full time again soon.

Former call holder Ross Massingale. Took me a while to find this card. Thank you Sir!

The story of w0neo:

I went QRT for several years after I retired from the Army, Back then when the internet came out there was a big dispute on QSL methods and new modes with the internet coming out. My views did not match the ARRL ways. Since then a friend showed me the new methods of ham radio which is what was discused back when I went QRT and decided to get back into ham radio. But with the length of time and me moving I decided to get a new call with my area and we decided on w0neo. We researched and looked no record of the call being used, since my old call was ke4neo we decided on the w0neo. about 2-4 months after I received the call I was contacted by several hams about Ross Massingale old call. I then researched and found the family and discussed with them that I did not know about his call. They gave me blessings and were happy that the call was used. They asked me to check in once in a while to his net the NEO net on 3.860 6pm central and say hi once in a while. Everything I have heard about Ross has been very nice, I hope I can keep up his reputation.

From What I have heard he was a pilot in WWII and then became a civilian pilot and started flying Helicopters up in ND and SD area. He was very active with the club and started the NEO net for weather reports on 80/70m 3.860.

My radio life mostly is CW, once in a while i will use voice SSB. I preffer to operate in the novice band area to help someone new to cw.

here is the current equipment i use here at my shack.

I am using a Yeasu FT-450SAT

Antenna is a 80m SkyLoop abt 60-40ft

My old call was KE4NEO from 1994 Clarksville, Tn/ Ft Campbell, Ky. I operated 9K2/Ke4neo when I was in kuwait. After retiring I moved to Arkansas, finally moved to Springfield, Mo in 2009. From 2001 until 2013 I was QRT then applied vanity and took a 0 call.

3-14-14 I found My old log books from Ke4neo in a storage box. I am in the process of filing them in with QRZ log. I appologize to everyone for it taking me this long to find and electronic log them.

My kenwood ts940 is still on the repair bench. Some day ill learn rocket science and try to fix it.

Here are the toys

I first started with ham radio I guess back when I was a kid my father did CB with call KTC 3803

Then mostly cb stuff as I grew up. Working in the military I was a radio operator for most of it.

When I was at Ft Campbell, KY still doing CB a friend showed me his radio gear, got me a little bug.

Then I started doing more cw ops for the army so I decided to get my ticket. Passd the No-code in 1994 ke4neo.

Then passed Novice cw, then General cw. I took the extra cw but never got the license for extra. I have stayed a General

class ham since. I have done 2m ssb/cw/packet/EME. HF sat, cw, ssb, cw, digital modes. I prefer to make my own

Antennas over store bought ones. I passed physics in college but failed math. I can make any antenna work but

I cannot do math without a calculator  figure that hihi! When I moved to MO I decided thats I was QRT so long

I decided to change my call to a 0 and got W0NEO.
