Hi I'm Al from beautiful Monument, CO.  3 years ago I was fortunate to meet Bob K0NR and Stu W0STU of Monument, CO.  These gentlemen became my Elmers and have assisted me from technican to general class.   I also want to give a shout out to the HamNation crew.  I have met Gordo and Amanda and her Hubby Jeff and have received help and support from them and Don W. and Dr. Bob. Heil.   Ray N9JA and Fred of the ICOM team have also been gracious with their time when I have had questions.

I started in DSTAR with an ID51A and a DVAP with a Win 8 tablet.  I continue to enjoy DSTAR and local nets.  Now, weather permiting, I work QRP in Colorado with a KX2.  At my QTH I run either a KX3 with the KXPA100 or an IC7300 on a Hyendfed 80-10 meter antenna from Ron in the Netherlands.  Super antenna!   I enjoy DX and rag chewing.  EQSL and QSL cards.

In my earlier life I worked at Cincinnati Electronics where we manufactured the PRC77 and VRC12 military radios.  After that I worked in the telematics gps tracking industry.  If it moved, I tracked it!  It was like bounty hunting for vehicles.

I have been an avid astronomer for over 20 years.  Just last year in a moment of apparent weakness, I added new a hobby: Astrophotography.   Wow, what a learning curve.  I'm looking forward to the eclipse in August where I will also do some QRP and hopefully enjoy viewing clear skies through a solar filter!  And I just got talked into buying a straight key.  Learning that should be fun, I hope.....I am open to suggestions on the best method.

The Space Shuttle poster was obtained at last years Yuri's Night held by the Space Foundation of Colorado Springs.  Yuri's Night is an annual tribute to Yuri Gagarin, the first human in space in 1961 and is during the week of the Space Symposium event.

When you're not hamming, look up at the night sky, it's quite the light show.  Make it a great day and 73.
