Hello and welcome to my QRZ.com page.  Yes, that's me celebrating the completion of my 100 foot tower with a glass of 35 year old scotch.  Thanks to Glenn, K3SWZ, and Dave, WA3F, for their help completing the project.  I'm currently in the process of assembling the antennas, monobanders for 20, 15 and 10 meters.  The new antennas and tower will augment, not replace, the existing antennas.

First licensed in 1959 as KN3LHD at the age of 13, I've been an amateur for 59 years. I've held NOVICE, TECHNICIAN, ADVANCED and currently AMATEUR EXTRA class licenses, all secured under the previous FCC incentive licensing system including the 20 WPM Morse requirement.

I describe myself as a CASUAL DX'ER.  Active and currently operational from 160M thru 70CM exclusive of 1.25M. Modes of operation include SSB, DSB/AM, CW and RTTY.  My idea of a digital mode is CW.

My interests are casual DX, collecting/operating vintage gear, constructing amplifiers, antennas, towers and most things mechanical.  I like to design, build and restore things.  I have several operating positions to accomodate my collection of vintage gear which I am happy to report function in some form or another.

Many of my amateur radio escapades have been planned and executed with the assistance of Glenn K.,  K3SWZ, A-1 OP,  mentor, good friend and Masonic brother for over 40 years.  We keep each other from really going off the deep end - most of the time!

Main Operating Position:

In addition to my current call sign, W3SOX, I am trustee for K3LHD and K3IEC, The Appalachain DX Association and the Cumberland Amateur Radio Club.
