I was first licensed in May of 1950 at the age of 15 receiving the call W6JRY that most people think is a vanity call but it acutely was luck of the draw. I upgraded to Extra class shortly after it became available. I have enjoyed operating and building equipment and antennas, Dxing, I hold #1 DXCC Honor Roll, 9BDXCC, 160 meter DXCC, WAZ, WAC, WAS, and as far as I know I hold the only QRP SSB 10 meter WAS done with a Handy Talky with a 4' whip from my back yard from 1989 to 1991. I have a small radio museum in my basement shack, and have enjoyed restoring vacuum tube radio equipment and building replicas of early radio equipment from old radio magizene's, I also have a collection of WW2 military radio equipment that I have restored to working order. I went to work for Pacific Bell Telephone in 1955 and spent most of my 38-1/2 years as a Microwave and radio technician, retiring in 1993. I have been a member of ARRL for over 50 years.
