In December 2015, I checked out ham licenses requirements after reading "One Second After" and discovered code was no longer required. I passed Tech and General and then Extra, receiving my original call sign the same week I passsed Extra. I selected a 2x2 sign - KK7KL - and after some voice contacts decided there were too many K's.

Looking for a good easy to understand call sign, I selected W7KMR as a replacement call sign.

When I went to the Utah DMV, the license plate was already assigned!!!!

I tracked June down - she had changed to W7JUN and left the first W7KMR license plate on her truck. She is 90 and talked about being in the Philipines with her husband - W7KMQ and communicating back to the states.  She gave the truck to her son and he released the Utah plate.

I have been active on a local VHF net, and struggled with phone over 20 meter SSB. Did some PSK31 and then discovered JT65 and the FT8. Wow - I am waiting for better conditions to work psk-31 and phone.

I have a Yaesu FT-857d and an end fed 10-80 meter antenna - www.myantennas.com - and have been pleased with the results. I am working to go portable using a 30 or 100 watt solar panel and battery. Thinking about the antenna for portable.

I upload to QRZ, eQSL and LOTW every day or so. I can send a card if you send me one.
