Licensed in 1959. In the early years spent most time in construction and operating, mostly 160m and 4m.

Interested in all things digital ..............

  • Founder and first editor of BARTG's Datacom magazine.
  • Enjoyed lecturing on RTTY, AMTOR and packet radio to radio clubs throughout the UK.
  • Founder member of RSGB's original Digital Communications Committee.
  • Founder and first editor of the Data column in RSGB's "Radcom" magazine.
  • Recipient of RSGB's Courtney-Price trophy for contributions to amateur radio.
  • Current special interests: Software Defined Radio, WSPR, FDMDV, remote control.

Now fully retired from internet security consultancy, and have given up trying to migrate everything in the shack from Windows to Linux.

Very enthusiastic owner of an AIM4170 antenna analyzer from Array Solutions. It's head and shoulders above the competition, and makes working with antennas extremely easy. More details on the AIM4170 Resources Page.

Now an even more enthusiastic owner of the Kenwood TS-590S. This radio is incredible value for money, and the receiver is outstanding. See the The TS-590 Family Resources Page.

Recently acquired a Wouxun UV950PL for 4m FM operation. See the Wouxun UV950PL Resources Page.

Also interested in photography, current affairs, music and linguistics - I particularly enjoy ragchews on the hf bands in Dutch, German or Russian.

Always look forward to hearing again from those I knew in "ye goode olde days" of the 1960s!
