On the 18th June 1815, Allied armies under the leadership of the Duke of Wellington finally defeated the forces of Napoleon Bonaparte and brought to an end the seemingly endless wars that had riven Europe over many years.  The previous day, Wellington had retreated to a fresh defensive line after being successfully attacked at Quatre Bras and at the same time Napoleon had defeated Bluchers Prussian Forces at Ligny.  On the 18th June Wellington with British, Dutch, Portuguese and Spanish forces defended a ridge near the village of Waterloo in modern Belgium near Brussels and was sorely pressed by the French forces until late in the day when Blucher arrived with his Prussian Army and attacked Napoleon's right flank.  The French senior regiment the 'Old Guard' were thrown into the attack in the centre of the line but were decimated by accurate and rapid musketry and rifle fire causing the French to break and run away.  The battle was  over and Napoleon surrended the following month

This station will run for 28 days commencing 18th June 2015 from the QTH of GW3KJW and will QRV on  the following  bands from 80 to 6 metres.  Although cards are not required all contacts will be acknowledged by QSL card either direct of via the RSGB. 

This station will be affiliated to the Royal Signals Amateur Radio Society and  as such will be carrying an affiliated membership number.
