I've been around ham radio pretty much my whole life. My dad, WB9YWE has been a ham for as long as I can remember. However, my hobbies drifted into computers growing up and I had little interest in radio.

Well, now I'm carrier computer programmer and have little desire to persue computers as a "hobby." So, I started getting back into radio. The real clincher was for me was when my dad showed me PSK31 using his FT-817. I was hooked. From that time, I studied hard and got my Tech license. I also passed the General exam, but hadn't prepared for the CW test. The next month, I passed the CW test and the Extra exam and got the full meal deal.

I'm looking forward to QSO'ing on some of the more interesting digital modes (FELD HELL, MFSK, etc.) and doing CW while back packing in the boon docks. I might even work a little SSB now and then! :)

My current rig is a Yeasu FT-817ND with a dipole 30ft high.
