Hello! Thank you for visiting my page!

SKCC #5535 Member YLRL

I received my amateur radio license in July, 2008.  I first became interested in radio through my connections with emergency preparedness and my participation in my local (City of Manchester, MO) CERT (Community Emergency Response Team). At my very first radio class, I heard about the possibilities of international radio communications, and I guess you could say I was bit by the bug! I was so excited I studied for and passed my technician and general exams at the same time.

I have been blessed with some wonderful "Elmers" who have gone above and beyond to teach me, demonstrate techniques, and even challenge me to take some "next steps" including helping others even newer to radio than me. There is no way I could list all of them, but I trust they know who they are and how much they mean to me.  I will do my best to carry on the tradition!

My station includes an ICOM 706 MKIIG, with an LDG tuner, Radio Wavz Windom, Gap Titan DX and 6 meter dipoleantennas for HF.I use a West Mountain Radio Clear Speech Speaker and a Heil HM-10 Dual Mic. I have a separate Kenwood TM-V71, ICOM 208H (mobile)and a couple Yaesu HTs for local communications.

I am a member of the St. Louis and Suburban Radio Club (SLSRC) as well as the St. Louis ARES group. I enjoy HF - DX as well as US contacts.   I earned my first Worked All States certificate in 2010.  I participate in some of our local 2 meter nets and also enjoy IRLP and Echolink on occasion.

I am learning CW . It is a slow process, but with a little help from my roommate (KC0EEP) I occasionally make a few CW QSOs. I generally use a Navy Flameproof key owned by KC0EEP for CW. I am just beginning to learn a little more about digital radio modes.

When I am not enjoying amateur radio or working, you might find me in an activity at my local church, riding my Wizwheelz recumbent trike or playing with my dogs (A boxer/lab mixed named Paulie and a standard dachshund mix named Maisy).

I hope to chat with you on the bands soon ! I am not currently updating my logs to lotw, due to a computer issue.  I hope to have the issue resolved soon.  I  enjoy exchanging QSL cards. I will qsl 100% with anyone who sends their card to me.
