I got my technician license 4/13/09 after testing with the Cliff Cave Library VE team. I got in to amateur radio with the help of my Dad, KD0HGH. He was originally licensed in the early 1990's as N0OON, but his license expired. About two weeks after my dad retested, I took my test and passed. Then once my brother saw how much fun the hobbie is, he tested and got his license. His callsign is KD0HSL.

The dual band rig we use is a Kenwood TM-V71A (2m/70cm) with a J-pole mounted in our attic, since our subdivision has antenna restrictions, and we also use a Ten-Tec HF rig purchased from Steve (W0SJS) to try out our HF privileges.  We use a homemade dipole with the Ten-Tec.  I am a member of the St Louis and Suburban Radio Club (SLSRC) and the ARRL.

I am studying for my general license as well as learning CW, along with my brother.  I am active with Boy Scouts and hope to get some of the fellow Scouts involved in Ham Radio soon.

73 hope to talk to you on the air.
