Hello, and thanks for looking me up on QRZ.

If you have an interest in Bird & Wildlife Photography check out my website ..... http://www.kensphotography.xyz

My interest in Amateur Radio began in the 1950's when I was a kid and had the opportunity to visit my Uncle Russ (N2ASV), SK, in New Jersey. He would sit me down in his Ham Shack and show me around the radio world. I built a crystal radio from a kit I received for Christmas in 1958 (4th grade). It wasn't until 1991, with encouragement from my good friend Gil (N2GG) and my youngest brother Keith (KS5W) that I took the test and got my Novice and Tech licenses.  I was hooked and a few years later moved up to Extra.

I have moved throughout the U.S. as a manager for a Fortune 500 Company. After 36 years with the same company, I was able to retire and move to the Eastern Sandia Mountains of New Mexico.  Our QTH borders the Cibola National Forest and is at an elevation of 7200 feet. My wife Janice (K2JES) and I live in a log home and celebrate 32 great years together. We now get to play in the woods with our "fur-kids" seen in the picture below.

We have enjoyed aviation and have flown our Archer (N181PB) throughout the western U.S (picture thanks to our good friend Sam (N5FO), "Flying Object", of our landing in Silver City, NM, to visit his QTH).

In January of 2013, we sold the airplane and bought a 36' MotorHome. We found we really enjoyed life on the road and bought our current "2nd QTH" in December of 2013 (picture below).  We are exploring New Mexico, Arizona, Colorado, Utah, Texas and other neighboring states while currently spending over 50% of our time on the road and operating a TS-480 HX portable from our "mobile QTH".

At home in the mountains, I am currently operating a FLEX 6500 that will play into one of four antennas: a Hexbeam (K4KIO design); a 40 meter Double Bazooa inverted Vee (IAC design); a vertical GAP Titan DX; or, an end-fed 8010EFHW (my Antena Desgn). When I get the "urge" to turn some knobs, I fire up the old reliable TS-940S. Amplifiers are a THP HL-1.2KFX and a Kenwood TL-922A. I am generally hanging around on 40 meters (7.155 +/-) in the morning.

Below is the Hexbeam Antenna (KIO) erected at 40' on11/6/2011 with the great assistance of the XYL.

Other interests include photography, woodworking, music (guitar), fly-fishing, cowboy action shooting, square dancing, golf, and more recently bird-watching.

It's my pleasure to meet you on the radio.

73,

Ken
