Thanks for looking me up - I was born in 1941 but took up ham radio late
when I retired in 2006. I am married to a lovely wife and we have a fine son, David.
I met my wife in Korea whilst working in the shipyards there and then many years later
I managed a trip to Antarctica to breathe new life into an ailing satcom system at the
Korean King Sejeong base.
I greatly enjoy using CW and appreciate every QSO - though a contact with VK would
be a nice surprise. (yet to happen)
My transceiver is an Elecraft KX3 - the rx i/q output is connected to a sdr program
on my laptop called Rocky and this allows me to watch a cw band for calls.
My key is a Kent single paddle - I would actually love to use a straight key (I have
two old Marconi keys) but get the jitters big time on air using them. So a second
best is keying to myself for pleasure.
I built a Softrock Rx/Tx sdr a few years back and now for QRP contacts I use it with a
Ramsey 40m amplifier and MFJ-971 tuner to give about 5 watts output - all housed
in a small briefcase.
Happy to have met you, my thanks and have fun
