-I'm just an old guy, who is trying to keep my brain active.

- I have been in and out of ham radio a couple of times. My first callsign was WN4HYN, then KE4DWZ, and now W2WCM.  I enjoy HF, especially HF nets.

- I have retired once, and now work part time in a completely different field. My life seems too busy.

The station :

An Icom 7800, which is a lot of radio for me.  I have a lot to learn.  It gives me the chance to send 200 watts up the coax, which might make for a better signal, though I usually use only 150 watts output. The receiver is clearly much better than with my old rig, an Icom 706.  I have also added an Icom 7300, which is a lot of fun.

The new antenna is a Carolina Windom, up about 45-60 feet.  It is a fairly good antenna, though it makes for a "modest" station.  I thank other hams, with beam antennas and amplifiers for doing the "heavy lifting" and making more QSOs possible.

Please come back to me and let me know how I am doing!

Thanks, and 73!

73!

First QSO of 2016--NPOTA from Prince Wm. Forest Park!

Working a pileup on the Appalachian Trail at Harpers Ferry, WVa for NPOTA--TR01 and HP14!

Many thanks to Craig, N0CSM for use of his Buddipole antenna!

Operating from Slovenia as S5/W2WCM, thanks to my friend Slavko, S57DX!  An impressive station!

Also from Slovenia, QRP contesting with a KX2 and 5-9 watts.

The heart of the station--two ICOM HF rigs!
