Hello everyone, my name is Del.  I have been a ham operator since late 2014.  I am just getting started in the hobby although I have wanted to get my license for a long time.

I have a Yaesu FT-8800 for VHF/UHF and a Yaesu FT-857D for HF work.  I use both of them in my screaming yellow Jeep Wrangler, and in my house I now have a Yaesu FTDX3000.  In the Jeep I use a Comet UHV-6.  I try to talk on my way to and from work each day, and on most lunch hours.  So I have almost as many contacts mobile as from home.

I did get a tower up this summer with the help of members of the Lowell Amateur Radio Club, W8LRC!  I have a Comet GP-9 on top, a Cushcraft A6270-13s yagi that covers 2M/70CM and 6M.  And I have an MFJ-1785 rotatable dipole that covers 20M/40M/80M.  I have a THDX6 yagi that is on the ground for now getting rebuilt.  All of that is on top of a Universal HD21-60 tower with a 15' mast.  The rotator is a Ham IV that I used 40 years ago to turn a Moonraker CB antenna.  I also use an OCF Windom from RadioWavz that works on 6M - 160M.  The center of the antenna is up about 60' on a crossbar on the tower with the ends down in an inverted V.

As for when I am not on the radio, I am pretty busy.  I am a Boy Scout leader with about 30 years of service.  I recently got NRA certified as a pistol, rifle and shotgun instructor and as a Range Safety Officer so I could take the scouts out to the range and work with them on their shooting merit badges.  I am an Eagle Scout and both of my sons are also Eagles.  We still do a lot of camping and I hope to integrate the ham radio into some of our outings in the future.

I / We are also Disney World FANATICS!  We try to go there each year at least once.  Our boys have been going there since they were only a few months old.  They are now both adults and still love the family time together.

I guess that is about it for now.  I will try to post pictures as I can.  Right now the shack is nothing more than a radio sitting on a computer desk, but that will probably change as time goes by.

I will reply to QSL cards either direct or bureau and use LOTW, QRZ and eQSL.
