After 40 years in the UK, we now live on the South coast 60 miles West of Kingston near Malvern. At just over 2250ft ASL and 3 air miles inland of the beach, we enjoy a near panoramic view of the surrounding lowlands looking out to the sea horizon. Our location is ideal for 6Y5WJ but vulnerable to the elements, especially during the hurricane season. A very modest station comprised of Kenwood/Yaesu equipment, a 5 band quad, a 160M inverted "L" with elevated radials, an 80M inverted "L", a 40M vertical and Beverages toward Europe and USA. I operate 99% CW and I'm a member of various CW clubs. I do operate other modes, but much rather the challenge of CW. As an absolute novice contester, I've adopted the code of conduct, so if you hear me, do likewise and I WILL "eventually" answer your call.:)! I was first licensed in 1982 as G6RXC and soon after, under the mentorship of G0FOC (Mick) achieved the “A” class license and subsequent callsign G0NAN. We currently offer accommodation at our annex and my shack is also available to licensed hams who are interested in operating from 6Y5 "the other side of the pile-up". Either drop me an email to: joshwalkr@gmail.com or browse: http://www.dipole.com/6y5wj.html Our visitors have included, the well known duo, Lali (VE3NE) and George (VE3NZ) who operated 6Y3M in the CQWWCW. George (6Y3M) again in the160M contest, also the revered and well known Yuri (VE3DZ) operating SOAB HP as 6Y2T in the 2012 ARRL CW contest and crossing the finish line in second place with a score of 6.8M. The maestro returned again this year to take the title in the same contest. Allen (N2KW) has put in an appearances and is back again this year.
