A PLEA FOR UNDERSTANDING

Please understand that DXpedition operators DO NOT CARE what your name is or what state or part of your country you are in.

DXpedition operators want to make as many contacts as possible when they are on the air.

When the DXpedition operator sends your CALL and REPORT, make your reply as brief as possible.

If you have no doubt that the DXpedition operator has your call correct, reply with "5/9 THANKS (SSB)" or "599 TU (CW)".

NOTHING ELSE IS NEEDED

I realize you may have been calling for an hour or a day or several days, but this QSO is not your 30 seconds of fame. "5/9 THANKS (SSB)" or "599 TU (CW)" is what the DXpedition operator wants to hear so that he can move on.

When you send "73", "CIAO, CIAO", "GOOD LUCK", "GOOD DX", "BYE, BYE, MY FRIEND" along with your NAME and STATE or COUNTRY, you are delaying the DXpedition operator's next contact.

QRM, QRN, QSB, and other CONDX will mean repeats and extra transmissions. Please understand that DXpedition operators want to work you. Brief exchanges help make that possible for many more operators.

I deviated from this operating discipline to chat with friends, when I wanted to know what the weather was back home, or to answer questions about station equipment or our expedition, but not when there was a pile-up.
