William A. Batey - Owner and operator of the 9H1BBS VHF & UHF Repeater System that went into operation on the 1st of January 2006. The systems are installed at Mtarfa and provide 98% coverage to the Maltese islands. Both repeaters require a 77Hz CTCSS Tone for access and are both internet linked using two independent EchoLink Systems on a 24/7/365 basis. Look up 9H1IA or G0DEO for more information. Batey) VHF Repeater RV6 on 145.750MHz CTCSS 77Hz (9H1BBS-R 5661) UHF Repeater RU7 on 433.175MHz CTCSS 77Hz (9H1IA-R 5668) 9H1BBS used to be a licenced AX.25 packet BBS system and was the only operational BBS in Malta. It served both of the islands of Malta and Gozo on a 24 hour basis. It started operation on the 15th day of August 1995 and was located 124 Meters ASL and around a 1/4 Km South West of "Wied Ll-Ghasel" limits of the town of Mosta. (Locator JM75fv) 9H1BBS could be accessed on 14.113.120 Hz LSB and was an unattended packet BBS system with only minimal human intervention. 9H1BBS ceased operation on the 18th December 2003 and was replaced with an EchoLink Node 9H1BBS-R Number 5661.
