A extremely passionate patriotic song, sung in our Maltese language in rememberance of the end of the last foreign
The Maltese cross, also known as the Amalfi cross, is identified as the symbol of an order of Christian warriors known as the Knights Hospitaller or Knights of Malta and through them came to be
identified with the Mediterranean island of Malta and is one of the National symbols of Malta. The Maltese cross was depicted on the two mils coin in the old Maltese currency, and is now shown
on the back of the Euro coins, introduced in January 2008.
In the mid 16th century, when the Knights were at Malta, the familiar design now known as the "Maltese Cross" became associated with the island. The first evidence for Maltese Cross on Malta
appears on the 2 Tarì and 4 Tarì Copper coins of the Grand Master Jean de la Vallette-Parisot (Grand Master 1557-1568). The 2 and 4 Tarì Copper coins are dated 1567. This provides a date for
the introduction of the Maltese Cross. The cross is eight-pointed and has the form of four "V"-shaped elements joined together at their tips, so that each arm has two points. Its design is based
on crosses used since the First Crusade. It is also the modern symbol of Amalfi, a small Italian republic of the 11th century.
In the 15th century, the eight points of the four arms of the later called Maltese Cross represented the eight lands of origin, or Langues of the Knights Hospitaller.
The eight points are said to symbolize the eight points of courage:
* Loyalty * Piety * Generosity * Bravery * Glory and honor * Contempt of death * Helpfulness towards the poor and the sick * Respect for the church
The Venerable Order of St John teaches that the eight points of the cross represent the eight Beatitudes.

Over the past decades, and not surprisingly together with the introduction and growth of the Internet, the behavior of the radio amateurs on the bands has significantly deteriorated. In 2008 John ON4UN and Mark ON4WW wrote a comprehensive document entitled "Ethics and Operating Procedures for the Radio Amateur", document aiming to become a universal guide for newcomers and old-timers alike on the subject of operating ethics and operating procedures. In 2008 this document was accepted by the IARU AC (Administrative Council, the highest body of the IARU) as representing the point of view of the IARU on the subject. During further regional IARU meetings it was emphasized that the document be made available via all means, and at no cost, in as many languages as possible to the ham radio fraternity.
Two years later the document has been translated in more than 25 languages, with more coming. In some countries the document is also offered in printed format and a large number of amateur radio sites have a link to the document on their site, be it in English or in the local language(s). Our most sincere thanks go to all our friends who spent hundreds of hours to take care of these translations.
Fire is a no frills rock band which focuses on delivering raw, powerful live performances. The hard rock band has also been a favourite of Maltese head bangers since its inception in 1998.
Fire have recently launched their follow-up album ‘Thrill Me’ with a performance at the Farsons Beer Festival on Friday July 31. ‘Thrill Me’, like the band’s 2006 debut album ‘Ignite’, is a collection of hard rock and metal tracks in the Whitesnake and Judas Priest mould. However, whilst retaining the strong melodic focus that characterized their debut, ‘Thrill Me’ sees Fire delivering a harder, edgier sound, with songs like ‘Come with Me’ and ‘Where are Going’ being considerably heavier and darker than any of the band’s previous offerings. Other highlights of the album include ‘No More Pain’, which reveals the band’s softer, bluesier side, and of course the title track ‘Thrill Me’, a foot-stomping crowd pleaser that has already garnered extensive airplay on local radio stations.
The launch of ‘Thrill Me’ represents another important step forward for the band, following on the band’s success at the 2006 Oktoberfest battle of the bands, a number of well-received UK performances and sharing a stage with renowned international rock band Krokus. In tandem with the album, the band has also produced a video for " thrill me", the result of a successful collaboration with Talon House Pictures.
'Thrill Me' is available in various local stores, including Olympus, D'Amato, Exotique and Tip Top Electronics.
For all your music needs.
