Greetings, First licensed in May of 1976 as WD8LYL I have been fascinated with radio ever since. My uncle, a wireless operator in the Army Air Corp during WWII encouraged me to learn the code. As a young man my employment dreams were to be a ships radio operator. Is it possible they might call me Sparks ? I did achieve the FCC GROL with Radar Endorsement, the 2nd Class Radiotelegraphy License and the Marine Radio Operators Permit. As fate would have it, I was never employed in the industry. I think Ham Radio fills the void (minus the water) hi hi. Recently, my family moved from Cincinnati Ohio across the border into the great state of Indiana. Having lived in a subdivision my whole life, I now have 130 acres and a dedicated shack to further my amateur radio career. Needless to say, my XYL call JS6CRM was pleased to see the shack moved from the former bedroom into a dedicated radio room. This was the only girl I dated that had a ham license, probably why I married her. My back yard is an 80 acre open field, great for long-wire experimentation (Thanks Mr. Cebik W4RNL-SK). First time in 25 years I have had a directional antenna, amp and an antenna for 160. I have been experimenting with wire antennas now that I finally have the space. I have been most active on 20 and 160 and always enjoy a nice rag chew. Goals include a taller tower and a larger antenna farm (a Sturba Curtain would be interesting). Rigs include an FT-950 and DMU-2000 into the VL-1000 amplifier, an FT-736R, a Kenwood TM-3530A . Feed line is the monstrous LMR-600 UF. Antennas include, a home brew OCF dipole, a Force 12 C3SS, numerous verticals for 2m/440, 6 meters, 220 and an R7 for HF. Thanks for checking and see you on the bands!!! 73's AA9VZ Last modified: Sun Feb 22 19:10:53 2009 Does this page contain inappropriate content? If so, Report this page... |
