I took my Amateur Radio Licence Exam after finishing my Studies (M.E.) in 1973 and have been dedicated
to VHF / UHF DX from the early Beginning.

The QTH at 335m asl is not ideal for VHF due to higher Mountains from NNE to SSE (Elevation 1.3...2.0°;
see topographic Map further down) but Tropo Ducting, Meteor Scatter, E-Sporadic and an almost unlimited
Patience sometimes contribute to the desired DX :-)

Favourite Mode: SSB but also QRV on WSJT MS, PSK2k MS (and QRS-CW if unavoidable :-)

New DOK since 2006: B34 (DARC District Lauf / Nuremberg County)

SET-UP, Home QTH JN59PM:

Modified FT-847  6m: QRP,  2m: BEKO HLV-1000 / 11el / LNA, 70cm: 500W (homemade
3CX400A7 PA) / 19el / LNA

AWARDS (worked exclusively on SSB): 144/432MHz: DARC EUROPE AWARD "TROPHY" #182 (2004)

HF: DXCC Phone #12208 (1981)

Member of the Middle Franconian V-U-SHF Group

Since May 2008 I also make Use of a generous Offer made by my old Friend DK1FG already many Years ago:
To operate from his 144MHz Top Class Station (Mountain QTH JN59OP) and to use the Site / Facilities
whenever I want. TNX Gerhard !
The QTH is 25km NNW of here and I am sometimes QRV from there during Contests (to give away Points
to active Participants) as well as prolonged Tropo Ducting.

SET-UP: IC-7700, Kuhne TR144H+40, various LDMOS-FET and Tube Linears, Output 750W,
Feeder Cable 1 5/8" Cellflex, LNA: Medium-Power GaAsFET Module

A brief Summery of 41 Years VHF Activity from Home QTH:

Some rare and difficult QSOs on 144MHz (difficult due to Scarcity and huge
Pile-Ups):

17.Nov.2006 5A7A JM62MU (Tripoli), QRB: 1860km Mode: FSK441 MS

04.July.2009 EA8YT IL18SL, QRB: 3314km Mode: SSB 2x E-Sporadic

144MHz ODX on various Modes:

Tropo SSB: EA1FDI IN53tf 1655km

Tropo JT65B: EA1FBF IN73wj 1359km

Es SSB (single Hop): RT7G LN04wx 2345km

Es SSB (double Hop): EA8YT IL18sl 3317km

FAI SSB: CT1HZE IM57nh 2109km

Aurora SSB: EI8IP IO62mq 1317km

MS FSK441: RA6DA KN96sa 2133km

EME JT65B: RA0FCA QN16iv 8316km

Until Dec.2013 I worked 65 European and North African DXCC Entities (43 on SSB, 22 on MS,
all confirmed) via terrestrial Propagation.
A Number of JT65B EME QSOs with "Big Guns" and audible Signals were - for the Fun of it -
also made but not taken into Account.

432MHz ODX

Tropo SSB: LA2Z JO59ej 1100km

Other Hobbies:

Spending Time and having Fun with my 5 Year old Granddaughter Sophia

Listening to solid Rock Music and watching good Psychological Thrillers.
