START NEWS Last Update 23. October 2012: We will travel tomorrow 24th. October until 31th. October 2012 to Tunesia, north Africa and we spend 1 week in Skanes, near Sousse. Perhaps there is a possibility to go on the air in Sousse with the callsign 3V8SS with low power 100W. I have connections already to responsible persons in the country. So let´s have a look and perhaps there is a little surprise that you can work me during the CQWW - phone contest 2012 activation in the coming up weekend. If the station is available there is an activation before or after the contest possible. If not, the beach is still waiting for my family and me because the Hotel location is directly on the beach and the WX for this week is very friendly with temperatures around 30 degree celsius. Any questions so far. hihi

Hello dear QRZ.COM visitor, this is Mirko, DJ1AA. I was born 1963 in Einbeck, Germany. My profession is electrical engineering and quality management. My favorite hobby is amateur radio, of course! I start with amateur radio in the early 1980 with my ex C-class call DG1AAF. I updated some years later to A-class call DH8AAF. My final call DL8ABO I got in the mid nineties. In 2000 I changed my CEPT class 1 call DL8ABO to DJ1AA again! Also in the mid nineties I made the US AMATEUR EXTRA class license and I keep in the US my call AB0DL. QSL cards for contacts with my US callsign AB0DL please via DJ1AA@ DARC bureau (Deutscher Amateur Radio Club), Germany or direct to my German Address you can find above. QSL policy: If you are interested in a paper QSL, and you are not a member of any club, which is doing international QSL exchange, please send me a SAE with 1 new IRC or 3$US. For domestic requests, please include a SASE. QSL exchange via bureau is preferred. I am collecting Islands and I am operating from Islands as well. I was QRV from some interesting Islands on the world. By the way, on the picture above you see one of my 5Z4 QSL card (now I keep the callsign 5Z4HU). QRV on Islands with IOTA and without IOTA status: Africa: Comoro Islands: Mayotte Island FH/ Indian Ocean, Madagascar Island (Nosy Be Island), Indian Ocean, Mafia Island, Indian Ocean, Zanzibar Island, Indian Ocean, Mombasa Island, Kenyan coast with my call 5Z4HU (ex 5Z4/DJ1AA). Europe: Spain: Ibiza Island, EA6/ Balearic Islands, Spain: Mallorca Island, EA6/ Balearic Islands, Italy: Elba Island IA5/, Great Britain: Islands (England, Scotland + Orkneys, Wales), Denmark: Nordjylland Island, Romo Island, Mando Island, Germany: Helgoland-, Amrum-, Fehmarn-, Norderney - Island North America: USA: Florida: Keys Islands W4/Homecall or AB0DL. Also I was been QRV from a lot of fixed countries in the worldthe list will go very long, lets save the time My home in Germany: Location is JO41XU, about 70km south of Hanover, in north west Germany. My home is the little village Kreiensen and it is located in the river Leine valleyabout 110m asl. The mountains around my city grown up to about 400m asl. In this case my VHF, UHF, SHF position is not the best for DX, but on short wave it should be okay. My 17 element Yagi Optibeam OB17-4 is about 19m above the ground on the steel antenna tower. # # # # # # # # # # # # # # # # # # # # # # # # # # # # # # # # # # # # # # # # # # # # # # # # # # # # # # # # # # # # # # # # # Now vy 73, good DX Mirko
