My friends call me Ben. I am 47 years old, and I got my first license back in 1981, when I was 14 years old. Since 1992 I am running an IT firm, BOC IT-Security GmbH: http://www.boc.de. I am focussed on IT security (Firewall/VPN with WatchGuard - I am a WatchGuard Certified Trainer). My passion is Contesting. From 1997 through 2003 I had a 2-tower setup on the grounds of my company building in Fulda. After 2003 I moved all my equipment to the DR1A Multi/Multi contest station: http://www.dr1a.com. If you logged DL6FBL recently, I was operating from there. Other activities in the past years include six contests from Mike's place, SV9CVY, on Crete Island, and being a part of the VK9DNX and VP6DX expeditions. VP6DX was holding the current world record for QSOs during a DXpedition (183,686 contacts in 17 days) for a couple of years. I am still holding both CQ WW world records (SSB and CW, Single Op Assisted category), set in 2003 and 2004 from Andy's place, 9Y4ZC, on Tobago Island. I was also a competitor at WRTC 2000 (Slovenia, S511E, finishing #6 with DL1MFL), WRTC 2002 (Finland, OJ2V, finishing #3 on the podium with DL2CC), WRTC 2006 (Brasil, PT5P, finishing #6 with DL2CC), and WRTC 2010 (Moscow, R32C, with DL3DXX, finishing #19 after technical problems). In November/December 2010 I was part of the ZL8X expedition to the Kermadec Islands: http://www.kermadec.de (148,571 contacts in 17 days). I am a founder member of the "Lagunaria DX group" http://lagunaria-dx-group.org and there will be more major DXpeditions to follow!
If you are on Facebook, you can also find many pictures of the DR1A contest station at http://de-de.facebook.com/DL6FBL.
