Click for more detail... From December 2002 to January 2004, I worked as radio operator and electronics engineer at the German research base "Neumayer II" in Antarctica (70°39'S, 8°15'W, CQ Zone 38, ITU Zone 67, IOTA AN-016, AA DL-03 in Sector 6, WAP DEU-02, WFF DLFF-021). During that time, I was active on the amateur radio bands signing DP1POL whenever work duties and HF conditions permitted. On February 20, 2009, the new German Antarctic research station "Neumayer III" was inaugurated. I am a member of the first wintering team on "Neumayer III" (70°41'S, 8°16'W, CQ Zone 38, ITU Zone 67, IOTA AN-016, WAP DEU-08, WFF DLFF-022) and expect to operate from the new station until early 2010 using my old call sign DP1POL. Log Check for the operation from "Neumayer III" is available at Club Log. QSL cards (including SWL reports which are always very welcome) are handled by Ray, DL1ZBO. Bureau cards are fine. If you prefer a direct reply, please enclose an SAE and sufficient return postage: 1 new IRC (valid until 2013) or 2 US Dollars will cover postage to any destination by air mail. The QSL address is: Rainer Hilgardt, DL1ZBO For more information about "Neumayer III" Station, please check the station's official home page in English language. 73 and CUAGN from Antarctica!
