Haywards Heath twinnned with Traunstein in 1993.

Since the signing there has been a very strong growth in freindships and many exchange activities taken place.
Traunstein is a town in the south-eastern part of Bavaria, Germany, and is the administrative center of a district
by the same name.It is situated at the heart of a region called Chiemgau, approximately 11 km east of Lake Chiemsee
between Munich and Salzburg,15 km north of the Alps, and 30 km west of Salzburg (OE).
The town's most famous inhabitant is the last Pope, Benedict XVI, who attended the priest's seminary here before moving
to Munich for his university studies.

Special event call of the OV Traunstein (DOK: C16) to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the 20-year city friendship
and town twinning Haywards Heath and Traunstein:

The 20th anniversary of the town twinning between Haywards Heath and Traunstein and the 25th jubilee of the
"Friendship club Haywards Heath Traunstein e.V." is celebrated with the special callsign DR20CFT active until
late September (optional up to the end of December).
The HAMs of the Mid Sussex Amateur Radio Society (MSARS) in Haywards Heath are using a special callsign GB0HHT as well.

Die Stadt Traunstein pflegt z. Zt. 4 Städtepartnerschaften: Gap - Hautes Alpes/Frankreich, Pinerolo - Piemont/Italien,
