My father is Vasilij Kovalchuk is a ham too his calll is EW3EE ( es UC2LY) he is 72 years old . The first crystal detector receiver he made in 1950, at that time there was no electorcity in our village. Only starting from 1964 we have got it .The radiodetails were not to get at that time, that is why the diods for the receiver we manufactrured ourselfs - on the railsways collected sulphur and after that with help of sulphur and Pb a diod was made. In 1953 radio tubes had appeared for the battery powered radio RODINA -49 and as a result he has made first radio receiver for 40 and 80 meters.Listening to the stations he had learnt CW!-

Since 1985 , as I was a student in The Belorussian State University at the faculty for radiophysik and electronics was managing the radio club EU1XX [ ex UC1AWK ].

From 1997 – 2004 I work in international amateur radio publication in Raioamateur Magazine **RADIOLUBITEL** was managing the radio club EU5R

It has been my pleasure to operate from such stations/places as DL/EU3AR, DL0OV, LX/EU3AR, ON/EU3AR, PA/EU3AR, ...

At present my station consist of a FT900 plus home made amp…[ tube GS35B ] 1KW out.
