Hi ,

Born in 1955 , and retired from 2010 , i'm listening to the world radios and ham radio from the 60's , as i was a child .

Having call F1OYP till 1989 , i'm mostly working on V/Uhf , packet & aprs , but also having fun on 6 , 10 , 12 , 15 & 17 meters.

My ham station is made of :

- Yaesu FT 897
- Vertical Antenna Falcon OUT 250 B
- Diamond v/uhf vertical antenna (6m high)
- 5 elts 50mhz tonna

1 Computer Compaq deskpro with :
- 3 dxclusters (Ar-cluster + dxspider)
- 2 packet mailbox (WinFBB and Open Baycom)
- APRS with AGWUIDIGI and UI-VIEW .

All that connected in VHF with: 3 TNC2 , Two Icom IC2e + 2x 30w amplifiers and a President Lincoln
used as local radio gateways on 144.800 , 145.275 and 29.250 MHz.

I send every dx spot in unprotos on 145.275mhz & 29.250 mhz

My mobile station:
- Yaesu ft 7800
- Trx 28mhz President georges

cheeky tick on the image to connect cluster or bbs !

- > In 1997 , A collective reflection managed to make lead and install an experimental vhf repeater by Olivier F5OYA
on 145.350 MHz, then call 4VHA was delivered to us as well as frequency of 145.662,5 MHz.
I took part in the administrative approaches as the legal rights to build this repeater on a water castle some kms south of Périgueux.
Since 2007 another version of this repeater functions ; thanks to Pierre-Yves F4AZX !
Now call of this repeater is F1ZWT.

- > After the massive arrival of internet in the shacks , packet and digital modes were totaly
dropped .
In 2008 , trying to re-load packet mode interest around me , i promoted the last one still
running : APRS .
With help of Pierre yves F4AZX , we put into service a digipeater on another water castel
in the north of our departement : Thiviers.

- > In the mean time , i re-looked my packet/cluster installation , moving from DOS to Windows XP.

- > On May 5th we also put into service an UHF repeater in BERGERAC city with help of friends of F6KHS radio club

not in altitude for the moment , but with a good coverage : 432,900 mhz (shift - 1.6mhz) , linked with the vhf repeater of

Perigueux on 145.662,5 mhz.

All the best !

____________________________________________________________________

1 - prehistoric caves and shelters , cro-magnon men lived here a long time ago :

- le grand roc cave - les eyzies

- lascaux cave paintings - Montignac

- la roque saint christophe shelter - les eyzies

- national prehistoric museum - les eyzies

- dolmen of prezat

The GRAND ROC cave in Les Eyzies

2 - antic roman buildings , some are erased but some other are still there:

- Vesone tower - Perigueux

- acqueduc des arcades - Perigueux

3 - feodal times : medieval cities and castles were built to fight against ennemy and defend
royal , duchees and counties territories.
And after , the Renaissance with peacefull times.

- Views from : Chateau de Castelnaud & Beynac in background - La bastide de Domme - Chateau de Beynac - Chateau de Lanxion - Chateau de Bourdeilles - La tour mataguerre à Perigueux - Chateau de Badefols d'ans - Chateau de Puymartin - Chateau de Montfort - Streets of Sarlat (2) - Saint Front Cathedral in Perigueux - Chateau de la jarthe - Chateau de Beyssac - Chateau de Puyguilhem - Chateau de Trelissac .

4 - Nowadays , tourism is a pleasant way to visit our departement and to travel through prehistoric and ancient times :

>> The ancient walled city of Sarlat, famous for its stunning medieval architecture and vibrant street and theatre entertainment.

At nearby Montignac , you can visit the amazing prehistoric cave paintings of Lascaux.

The Vézère Valley is famed for its cave systems, containing numerous cave paintings and
hominid remains. Unesco designated these a World Heritage Site.
The Madeleine shelter , Magdalenian prehistoric finds is just near Tursac along the Vézère
river.

Much of the hundred year’s war was fought in the Dordogne and there is a wealth of medieval
chateaux and fortified villages to visit.
The Dordogne region is famous for its wonderful food and wine at the local markets or superb
restaurants.

At some crossroads , which way ? : right or left ?

- Canoeing at La roque gageac and under the Beynac castle on the Dordogne river.

- In the air over Beynac castle in the fog , and over the dordogne valley in front of the Castelnaud castle.

- Geese around Sarlat with a splendid little castle in the background - Geese and the ' Bories' , traditional farmer's houses.

5 - you will certainly never forget our regional specialities :

- nuts : every farmer here has his own plantation.
- truffles : the black diamon , expensive but great savor.
- wine : the world famous Bergerac (red wine) and Monbazillac
(white soft wine).
- mushrooms : famous black head boletus , the most perfumed one.
- strawberries : all over the departement , mostly family plantations.
- geese and ducks : the local traditional and famous cooking , getting
the steaklets , aglets , conserve of ducks , foies gras , grillons !
I use grease coming from ducks or geese to cook potatoes with garlic
and parsley . hummmm ! add some bolets . you'll never leave the table
for sure !
- to end , sweet chestnuts roasted under the ember a fire of chimney.

Why won't you check your next holidays in France ?

Next pictures : Strawberries of Perigord - Nuts - Truffles - Potatoes Sarladaises (with bolets ! hummm )

- Chateau de Monbazillac from the sky ,

- Chateau de Gageac rouillac with Saussignac wine growing area - The Monbazillac castle again.

Now some words and shots from my city : Saint-astier , little town of about 6000 people.

- Saint-Astier is known for the production of the lime, which allows today the restoration
of many classified buildings.
- Also known by its Center Drive of the Forces of the Gendarmerie which sees passing in its
walls of many gendarmes from all France, as well as foreign forces of order .
- Under this center, let us note the presence of a single military storeroom in Europe.
- The castles and churches are pilot passage of many pilgrims on the road to Saint Jacques of
Compostelle in western Spain.

- Views from : The Puyferrat castle - The Fareyrou chartreuse ( old carthusian monastery ) - The st astier church and the Isle river - The Puy Astier Castle.

To end , if you can't come to visit this marvelous land may we have a virtual visit of our region ?

this last web site is a rich documentation on old fashion building that
specialists were and are still doing on castles , bridges , roofs , churches .
Nice one !

_______

And . ?? what ?
Is this a joke ? Not just a covering joint eye has our American cousins !

Le Chateau de Rastignac : The French White House ! just nearby Terrasson.

Looking at the pictures you will see what puzzles the experts : the design.
The Chateau and the White House in Washington are too similar to have developed coincidentally.
