The Union Française des Télégraphistes, UFT, is the French CW Society.

Founded in 1985 by 30 fond of CW, the Society is associated now to the IARU Society, the REF-Union, (http://www.ref-union.org/) and is its consultant for all telegraphy matters.

The UFT is member of the EUCW, the Federation of European CW Societies. ( http://www.agcw.org/eucw/english.html )

Since 2006, common and reciprocal activities are jointly led with the French DX Association, the Clipperton DX Club

The Society counts more than 550 active members, in France (incl Corsica and overseas departments and territories) but also in the most part of Europe , USA, Canada, Oceania etc..

The UFT callsign F8UFT is on the air monthly (except August), on the 1st tuesday on 3545 kHz at 1900 utc (summer) and 2000 utc (winter).

All the UFT members can get permision to use F8UFT, from France, Corsica and French overseas departments od territories. So in the past you could QSO'd it as FK8UFT, TX8UFT , TK/F8UFT, FJ/F8UFT. When local rules permit this callsign is also used in foreign countries. You might have contacted it in former operations from J2, HB9, SV9, SM, OZ, LA, DL, ON, CT, and other.
