Had a crystal set in the 60s, played around with old valve receivers, then got on to legal FM CB from around 1981, and bought a FRG7 receiver for shortwave listening, from the Amateur radio exchange in Ealing, around 1983, Martin Lynch worked there as a boy !!
First licenced in 1985 as G1PBZ, then in Sept 1986 passed the Morse test at the Harlow rally, and obtained my current callsign.
Still playing with CW, and trying to improve, so if you hear me, be gentle and try and work me !! (I normally use the QRP / FISTS frequencies on HF, also 2m 144.050 / 144.058 and 6m 50.090. I have two straight keys, a HI-MOUND HK-708, used on the FT897, and one of those lovely CZECH ARMY keys for the FT950.
MAIN STATION EQUIPMENT: YAESU FT-950, Antenna is an End fed 8040HFA with traps, by G0JMI 10m high in inverted 'L' configuration. Primarily for 80m / 40m. (Altough it will tune from 80m-10m) For 6m I have a Moonraker halo in the attic. Plus an HW40HP OCFD strung around the attic, as flat 'U' I also have a YAESU FT-897D + LDG AT-897 PLUS, used mostly on digimodes, ant used is the indoor OCFD. I have a 2m / 70cm vertical also in the attic, plus a dual band Alton beam by G0JMI on a rotator for 2m/70cms. (4ele / 6 ele)

VEHICLE MOUNT IS A WATSON TRI-MAG. 7 WHIPS ARE HUSTLER, 2 ARE AMPRO (160m / 80m) 6m ANT is WATSON HELICAL, AND 2m IS MOONRAKER. I ALSO HAVE A 5 ELEMENT ZL SPECIAL (MOONRAKER) 2m BEAM, AND A SECOND 6m HALO. (MOONRAKER) FOR MY PORTABLE OPERATIONS. (WAB CONTESTS) I also have a Quansheng 2m/70cm handy.
I HAVE NOW BOUGHT A SOTABEAM 3 BAND (20M / 40M / 80M) LINK DIPOLE PLUS A 7m TELESCOPIC POLE and LI-PO BATTERY FOR PORTABLE HF WORK.
MOST OF MY SHACK ACTIVITY IS ON JT65 /JT9. BUT I ALSO USE : PSK / RTTY / OLIVIA / FELD HELL / CONTESTIA ETC. POWER IS NORMALLY BETWEEN 5w - 30w. But QRP is what I prefer ! (I ALSO LIKE TO RUN WSPR WHEN I CAN) I TAKE PART IN THE RSGB UKACs, EVERY MONTH ON 2m / 70cms and 6m, for FRARS my local radio club.
On Digimodes software is HRD+DM780 v188.8.131.52 with an SB-2000 interface. PC is Compaq CQ 58 notebook. (On JT65 / JT9 I use WSJT-X v1.1 r 3496) I AM ALSO ON THE W.A.B. NETS MOST DAYS (40m) WHEN BAND CONDITIONS / TIME ALLOWS ? I ALSO LIKE TO GO OUT MOBILE / PORTABLE AND ACTIVATE SQUARES / NATS / TRIGPOINTS. LIVED IN AND AROUND ST.ALBANS HERTS, MOST OF MY LIFE, TOOK EARLY RETIREMENT IN MARCH 2009,, MOVED TO POOLE IN NOVEMBER 2012.
