My dad worked for Pye before joining the army as a radio officer in 1938 he got though it and i was born in 1950 he  gave me a diode and bits to make a radio . I was a a boy of 7 years old . Later at 12 years old i found a copy of Practical wireless and found a circuit for a 4 valve trf rx i even rewound the mains transformer , it all worked after some messing about.. Leeds was a wonderful place to find parts with Alpha radio Mac of Morley and RSC many others too , sadly all gone . I have used 19 sets hro ar88 r1155 modified pye bantams and done a lot of listening and watching tv dx . So in 1984 i was allbut forced to do the RAE .So i  did and did a bit of operating for a few years and i met some great ops and a lot of bad ops, so i went off txing in 1989 . However ime now retired and although not as fit as i was , ime rebuiding my radio interest , I dont like hf bands much as i dont have the space for a sterber curtain, a pole with a few yagis is more to me and my neighbors liking . Radio is a fun hobby not a way of life .Call me if you hear me especially if you are 4000 km away. I now have the mast fitted to brackets at the rear of my house also fitted a scanner discone and new tv antenna to the chimney . Next job is to fit rotator , stub mast and my 55 ele tonna for 23 cms . I will use fsj 4-50 cable for 23 cm and 2m  4meter 5 ele fed with ldf 2-50 now waiting for stable wx.All nuts bolts and washers are a4 stainless steel . u bolts are bieng replaced with cap bolts and ally runners and plates to faciltate lowering mast in bad wx.All bolts on rotor are now stainless steel 4 m amp almost complete 2m amp will be finished in spring Iam 350 feet above sea level with a clear take off in all directions , though ground rises to north east not a serious problem as i have wkd sm la on 70cm and 23cm in the past with low power
