Born 1943. Licensed as G3OLB in September 1960.

QTH: Lived in Bristol area until 1973 then North-East Hampshire area until 1999 except for a year in Levittown, Pennsylvania during 1976. Since 1999 am in a very rural location in East Devon with nearly 5 acres to play antennas!

Interests: CW, DX chasing on 160 and LF bands, home-brewing for LF 136 & 500 KHz, contesting, rag-chewing, antennas.

Rigs: K3, TS850S, FL2100Z, Titan III.

Antennas: Currently use an inverted 'L' at 85 feet for 160, Dipoles for 80 and 40 at 60'. HF dipoles at 50'.

Mobile: Many years operating mobile on 160 with home brew gear, later a much modified Atlas 180 and these days an IC-706 with a set of Hustler whips.

Clubs: Member RSGB, FOC, Bristol RSGB Group, Bristol Contest Group, CDXC, GQRP.

Work: MD since 1989 of Telemetry Consultants Limited, representing a number of US companies in the telemetry and instrumentation business. The business is now on the 'back-burner' and I'm enjoying retirement.

QSL Policy: In these days of mobile telephones, e-mail and easy world-wide communications, I can see no point in exchanging QSL cards for everyday rag-chewing or contest QSOs. I can understand the desire for cards to confirm an unusual contact, for example a very long distance LF QSO. My QSL policy is therefore to only send cards in response to those who QSL direct and who also include adequate return postage.
