G4ANT is the callsign of the East Anglian Contest Club, formed back in the 1970s. The main station was located at the Mosley Antenna factory in Rackheath near Norwich and had an impressive antenna set up, for those days.

The club brought together lots of local operators and was one of the top contest stations, if not the top contest station in the UK back then.

G4ANT being past winners of CQWW, WPX etc in the days when Multi Multi was rare outside of the US. The operators included G3JOC G3LDI G3MPN G3IOR G3WWO G3SEM G3VZT G3ZIG G3XLL and many other locals giving support or making guest appearances....

The state of the art equipment included Collins S lines and Drake C lines, usually coming from operaters own shacks to be set up before the contest. The good old days of valve radio. Antennas were 3 ele monobander for 20m, with the Mosley Elan for 15m / 10m, inverted V's and loops for the lower bands, strung from the two 120ft towers, a sight to behold on an industrial estate.

The main Station was owned by Owen Chilvers G3JOC (SK) who I'm sure will be smiling down to think that G4ANT is back in the contest game, with one or two of the original operators and several young guns....... lets hope we can get back to some of the forma glory - big hopes!.

The contest station is now setup at the qth of G0DWV, two towers with monobanders, 80m 4 square along with some big plans for the future.

We look forward to working you on the air.........
