Please look out for me between 8th and 13th October 2009 when I will be operating as JW/G4ATA from Svalbard - more info on my web site.  For JW, QSL direct for prompt response (2 x green stamps or 1 x IRC) otherwise QSL via bureau.

Date of birth: 15/02/1957 Divorced, two children. Previous callsign: G1UDF. I also have G8DYT - this call will usually be used in contests.

I first started as a SWL in the early 1970's and was first licensed in 1986. My father was also a radio ham and when he passed away in 1989 I decided that it would be nice to take my CW test and get a full class A licence and have his call re-issued to me, so G4ATA was my father's callsign (as was G8DYT). My son Martin is also licenced - his call is 2E1FVS. Martin can sometimes be heard operating my station when he wants to work QRO and some DX!!! This also leads to some confusion as sometimes people have me in their log as Martin!!

Locator: IO92XO WAB: TF30

Station now consists of Yaesu FT1000MP, Tokyo Hy-Power HC-2000 atu, Dentron MLA-2500B, full size 4-square for 80m (25 radials per vertical at the moment). The 4-Square has been in use since 08/05/2008. Interests: 80m & 40m DX and looking for W.A.S.

(May 2009) After having some success with a single, elevated quarter wave vertical I have now added a second - so now running a pair of phased, elevated verticals on 40m.  Remote switching unit now completed and working 31st May 2009.  Now considering adding another vertical!!

Latest addition to the station on 25th July 2009 is a 200ft beverage for receive on 40m - an excellent antenna that does exactly what it says on the tin!  Already working stations that I would not hear on the 2 x verticals due to high QRN levels.

More info on my web site http://www.g4ata.co.uk  and view my online log at http://www.g4ata.co.uk/hamradio/hrdlog/index.html

Now building a web site dedicated to the 4-Square - please check it out and send me details of your 4-Square for inclusion on the site. http://www.4-square.co.uk
