On the air since 1973, I have been active on the HF bands regularly with my main interest being LF band Dxing.

CW is my favourite mode although I have been qrv on Data modes for a number of years.

A keen interest in antenna construction and testing . Although recently due to health problems I can

no longer do the amount I used to do. Have retired recently so at last more time for radio.

I have been a keen contester over the years with awards gained in a few of the World Wide contests.

Recently I have been an operator with the GR2HQ IARU contest team

and a guest operator of GB5CC(Commonwealth Contest 2012) @ Qth of GM3WOJ.

Also a member of FOC #1984.

Present set up is an Elecraft K3 tranceiver with a 400w linear amplifier available when needed.

Antennas are an 80m doublet fed via open wire feeder into my garage where via an ATU

I feed it back to the shack in coax.

A 55ft top loaded inverted L for 160m. Very noisey on rx.

20ft Circumference coax rx loop for 160.

 PMSDR and Funcube+ SDR receivers give me great panadaptor facilities as well.

A new addition is an amplified broadband receiving loop (amplifier by LZ1AQ)

DXLabs is my software for ham radio use (Highly recommended Freeware)

N1MM Logger is my usual contesting software with occasional use of Win-Test.

The Photo is of me with our 7 yr old rescued racing Greyhound. His name is Sombra (Shadow).

He raced 32 times and won 8 so not a bad ratio. Wish I had that same ratio in

the contests I enter
