Click for more detail... GB0RTM is the callsign issued to the Rougham Control Tower Museum, located at Rougham Airfield, east of the town of Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk. The airfield complex was built by Richard Costain Ltd in 1942. It covered 250 acres of farm land and the runways were linked by a perimeter track of some 3 miles.
The station shack is housed in the old radar workshops. The main photo shows some of the Operators who activated GB0RTM during Musums on the Air Weekend 20/21st June 2009. This used an FT102 transceiver with 100w to a doublet antenna 30ft above ground level. The usual radio operated by the station is an equally capable FT101ZD, and the call is activated whenever possible, mostly on Thursdays during the day.
