Background. Age 53 I've been working in the petro-chemical industry for 37 years, 26 in the UK on the Shell Stanlow oil refinery, 6 months in Thailand, Rayong Refinery, 7 years in Oman (LNG plant) and now 3+ years on Sakhalin Island [Prigorodnoye] - Russian Federation (yet another LNG plant). My previous life was in engineering (instrumentation & control systems), but I've been reborn as Learning & Development Consultant. I leave Sakhalin for good on 13th November and will hopefully retire in 2010......so will have plenty of time to play radio, go fishing, take photographs and travel the world, which is a very small place these days! A life long learner & also a big fan of The Open University UK, gaining a BA (Hons) and MEng,(Includes RF Engineering & Mechatronics) both of which are Institution of Engineering Technology (IET) profile. Also a member of the IET (MIET)...considering the E173 course for 2010...'Engineering the Future'....just to keep my brain going! Previously licensed as A45WB - Sultanate of Oman, station QRT in 2006. When back in UK, living at Mancot Nr. Hawarden. Running an Elecraft K3 with 100W to a 6BTV GP ant. I often enjoy operating on 2m from 'Windmill', IO83jf, 270m ASL, near Halkyn,North Wales.If you hear me....give me a shout. (I also now operate on Pensarn beach near Abergele, with a K1 and quarter wave vertical for 20m). QRP: FISTS member 14068 Built: Rockmite 20m, 2X Hendricks PFR-3 (40m/30m/20m) Elecraft K1#2637 (4 bands) . Elecraft K3 #2401 arrived over Christmas, spec. is 100W, with Internal Auto ATU, 400Hz roofing filter for CW, FM filter and 2m board will hopefully arrive in August. Elecraft K2 #6735 arrived 16th May...passed its phase 1 test ok and I will conduct the phase 2 test in November. All modules now built and ready to install.
