I born in Rome in 1968. Married with Annarita, we have tree sons: Nico, Francesco, and Andrea. We live in Tivoli, a city about 27km South West of Rome.
Ham since 1990. I operate mainly on CW. I love chaising DX. I start my activities with only a Kenwood TS-450S and dipole antenna for 20M. One year later I install a triband PKW Yagi for 10/15/20M in the top of self made 9 meter hight tower installed on the roof of build were I lived togheter with my parents. In 1994 improve my antenna system: I installed a new self made tower 12 meters high and on the top a Hy-Gain TH6DXX, a rotary Dipole for 40M and a SHARK 13 elements for 2 meters. At the same time appeared in my the station the first linear amplifier Henry 1KD-5 (1X3-500z) (tnx to I0BCS).
In 1998 I leave my parent's house for move in Ostia Antica, where staied for three years. We haven't any beam in that house, only a Cushcraft R7. In the 2001 stop any ham activities for 3 long years, and went to live in Tivoli.
In 2004, I started to re buil my ham station in my new house. I installed a motorized telescopic pole 12 m high, with a Hy-Gain tri-band beam TH3MK2, a homebrew trapped dipole for 12/17/30M, and homebrew wire Battle Creek antenna for 40/80/160M (thanks to Marco IK0DWN for donate me the beam, and to Achille IK0HTP for help me to install). I bought a new radio and a new amplifier: Yaesu FT1000MP and Alpha 89. With these new equipment restarts my ham radio activities.
At the moment my equipments are:
ICOM IC-756PRO3 with microHam MKII interface
STEPPIR 3 element beam (with 30/40m kit)
Thanks to my good friends Francesco IK0FVC and Luciano I0JBL, I'm one of the CW op at HV's stations (HV0A, HV4NAC, HV50VR, HV6SP) and member of 1A0KM gang.
I also operated as IS0/IK0PRG, IM0/IK0PRG, ID9/IK0PRG, IL7/IK0PRG, IA5/IK0PRG, HB0/IK0PRG, IY0ORP, IB0R.
Thank you for visiting my website and I hope to meet up soon on the air!
73, Bob IK0PRG
