My city is located on Ispica extreme edge of the south-eastern Sicily. Situated on a hill about 170 m.s.l.m. extends his gaze on the surrounding plains that slides down to the sea. Enchanting is the spectacle offered by nature that alternates between impressive rocks. The pleasure is accompanied by the natural taste of archaeological discovery, thanks to the prehistoric necropolis, Christian catacombs, monasteries and other monastic residential areas, which attest to human presence from the Bronze Age until 1693, year of the earthquake. The entrance to the Quarry was protected by a rock called "Force", on which stood a fortress, also destroyed by the earthquake. Here were found a number of archaeological finds dating from the fifteenth and the nineteenth though. B.C. The urban checkerboard of eighteenth-century origin is supported by a medieval irregular, located near a cliff, where are the remains of an ancient fortress, around which stood the ancient town destroyed by the earthquake of 1693 . Today the city has about 16 000 inhabitants and has a mainly agricultural economy, with good tourism potential.
