Started work as UofMN EE at EFJohnson then spent 35 years at IBM mostly in engineering management at IBM Rochester MN. Married, 2 kids, 1 granddaughter. Son is Drew KC0CJP who's engaged to Kristin KD0EBU. NEW-just took early retirement from IBM late June 2011. Enjoying HR deluxe digi mode options mostly 15-10m QRP.
Favorite bands: 10m, 15, 2m. SSB casual contester and DXer. Regular on PSK31 and portable QRP with ICOM 703. Ragchewer. DXCC 170 countries, WAS, Tenten 5383.
Rigs ICOM 746, ICOM 703, Yaesu 2m HT, mobiles IC2720 or favorite YASU FT1500M/m. Also have KW amp when conditions warrant using it.
Main antennas TA33WARC on a 44' crankup tower or Butternut HF6 vertical; also open wire fed 120' dipole & 2m beam.
Member IBM Radio Club, Rochester MN ARC, MN Wireless contest group. Favorite contests ARRL 10m, Field Day emergency exercise, plus when I am around in the winter MN QP. I chased DX for years but stopped at 170 confirmed to focus on more varieties that ham radio has to offer.
I prefer eQSL and as of October 2011 LoTW (pls email me to remind me if you have urgent need for a QSL) and mainly use them over hardcopy QSLs. Here are the latest photos of my 2010 shack and tower/beam. 73!
