We are currently running barefoot with plans to convert our AL-572 into an AL-811h any day now, once the tubes arrive - with 4 811A's to circumvent the 572B tube availability. It is a simple modification on the power supply board available from Ameritron. We just got our new 53' top loaded 80m vertical in the air. See pics below.
Radio: TS-590s, FT-857D
Power: Ameritron AL-572 (now running 4 811A tubes after modification), Mirage B-2518-G (HF: 100-800W PEP; VHF/UHF: 20-150W PEP)
Audio: Homebrew headset, Heil Genesis Dynamic Mic, MC-50, or stock mic, with no outboard processing. Internal speech processing and EQ.
CW: K8RA(sk) paddle, or homebrew paddles and keys.
Antennas: (most of my antennas are home brew)
Low bands: verticals, QW Vertical on 40m, elevated 3m, home brew, 80/160m 65' top loaded, and/or base tuned, band switched remotely.
RX: Beverage, various verticals and MFJ-1025 Noise Canceler. Cushcraft R7.
High bands: 20m long dipole with tuned feeder (20m, 12m) made of LadderSnap open wire line.
6m: homebrew 4 element quad fed with 75 Ohm hardline.
2m and 70cm and up to 2.4gHz:  11 element and 15 element single Yagis. Homebrew quads, yagis, and parabolic dishes
K1DNR Mobile Setup:I am using a screwdriver type mobile antenna with a 122cm or 183cm stainless steel whip. I also have a 3.7m telescopic whip for stationary use. I use an FT-857D barefoot, homebrew headset and CW paddles strapped to the ashtray. I enjoy operating mobile with my FT857D.

Biography: I am a musician. I studied with jazz legend Jackie McLean from the time i was 17. I taught and played all over the world for many years.  Today I run my own computer consulting business and play the lead alto chair with Michael Palin and the Other Orchestra every Tuesday in Hartford,  CT. at Blackeyed Sally's on Asylum Ave downtown.

Free music here, recorded with vintage Telefunken and RCA mics, and vintage preamps - (free tracks are full length mp3) http://www.socci.com/blog/my-music
I live in a rural part of central Connecticut on one of the highest hills in the area. We often hear Coyotes at night. Listen to the Coyotes sing.
