First licensed as KN1FFX in 1963. General class K1FFX since 1964. Years after my last Heathkit project (the HD-3030 RTTY interface), I've gotten back into kit-building. In 2009, I started doing QRP PSK31, using Small Wonder Labs PSK20. In the Summer and early Fall, 2010, I built (and fell in love with) my Elecraft K2 (shown here with Elecraft N-gen); see my construction blog here. I worked 165 contacts without too much effort in the November, 2010, CQWW (10 watts, using just dipoles) . I also built the Elecraft W1 Power/SWR meter, which was on-line in time for the CQWW. In December/January (2010-2011), I built the KPA100 (so officially K2/100 S/N 6982). In March, 2012, I added the KSB2 SSB adapter for the K2. In March, 2013, I built the KAT100-1 automatic antenna tuner. During 2011, I also got my HD-3030 back on-line, using the Kenwood TS-850 in FSK mode (works very well). For software, I found an open source serial line terminal emulator for Windows out on the web and added (using Cygwin) Baudot capability to it (works pretty well). The station "portrait" above shows my station as of early April, 2013.
Please QSL via LoTW if possible, since I rarely get around to sending QSL cards to the bureau. Last modified: 2013-04-07 18:16:02, 2713 bytes cached
