I was first licensed in March of 1962 as KN1VXB at the age of 13. I spent that year operating on 80,40,and 15 meters CW with an Eico 720 and also operated on two meter AM using a Gonset Comm IV.

Upgraded to General Class in March 1963 and added an Eico 730 modulator to my station. I used an end fed zepp antenna and had a rotatable dipole for 15 meters. I enjoyed ragchewing and started working a bit of DX. Much of my operating had been confined to being crystal controlled and I was very pleased to add a Heathkit VF-1 VFO even though it had a drift !

I have stayed pretty active since those days even when raising a family. I currently run an Elecraft K3 K-Line and Steppir Mark III Big IR Vertical. I'm active on all bands from 160 mtrs through 70 Cm and belong to Fists as # 7012.

I currently belong to YCCC,K1USN Radio Club, Marconi RC - W1AA, Marconi Cape Cod Memorial RC - KM1CC and Boy Scouts of America RC - W1BSA. IRLP NODE 4086 in Braintree, Ma 442.500 PL 118.

I also support the DX Code of Conduct -
