Hi All, JD here.
I really am enjoying the hobby. My main interest is DXCC but I like rag chewing as well. I have been an Automotive Tech for 35 years but spend more time repairing motorcycles these days.
I live in Flushing, Queens, about 8 miles from Manhattan in New York City. It is quite congested here so I have some limitations on Dipole length. I am doing well with the Alpha Delta DXCC at 36 feet.
Thanks for looking. Below you'll find a description and some pictures of the shack. My map should show the frequency I am currently on so give me a shout.
I use LOTW and Eqsl.
My Shack and mobile set up Also a FTM-10sr mounted on my motorcycle.
Yaesu FT-2000 driving a Tokyo-Hy Power HL-1.5kfx ,LDG 1000proII tuner, LP-100A Digital Vector watt meter
The audio is going to a Heil PR-781 and W2IHY 8 band EQ and EQ-Plus, Singal link USB and HRD for digital op's. I am very happy with the way it is all working, I use ham radio deluxe for cat control and logging. Also a FT-897 I mostly use this for 2 meter 70cm operation. The MDS Rotor controller is linked via HRD and will control the SP7IDX hex beam on a US tower TM433SS (tower should be up soon)
I have a US Tower TMM 433ss and a Sp7idx Hexbeam installation coming soon 40 ft should be nice. And here are a few photos. I am into my Corvairs, too.
Around August 2013, a House Sparrow was sitting in my garage watching me work. I started to have QSO with her and now she comes every day to visit and play. She even helps out in the garage. Here is a short video and a link to more. I hope it makes you smile. This little birdy has given my wife and I so much joy. The bird came just a month after we lost our dog Rocky, and her partner Maple passed a year before that. We where thinking the house felt lonely and then Birdy showed up.
If you would like to see more video's of Birdy click the link below.
