Tony, 73, has a life story that can be best described as arresting.  He was born and grew up in Northern New Jersey.   He is currently married to his wife Doris and has three grown children.  He is happily retired and living in the South Jersey splitting his time with long vacations in Florida.  He was first licensed in 1955 and has held the following calls, WN2RFS, W2RFS, KG4AN, K2SG/VP9, K2SG/6Y5, K2SG/8P6 and K2SG/NP1.  He has been on two DXpeditions both to Navassa Island in 1985 and 1988.  In 1961 he operated from KG4 as KG4AN for 6 months. He spent 4 years in the US Navy as a CW operator on board ship with sometime spent ashore in Guantanamo, Cuba.  He was also an Instructor at the Navy’s Radioman A school in Norfolk, Va.

After being honorably discharged from the US Navy he went to work for Ed Clegg Radio, maker of the 22er 2m meter and Clegg Zeuss 6 meter transceivers in Denville, NJ.  He had the great experience of working with both Ed Clegg and Tony Vitale who were both excellent engineers.  Although Ham Radio and electronics were his hobby he soon learned he had greater desire to work in Law Enforcement. Tony is now a retired Captain of Detectives after 30 years on the job.  Two years as a local police officer and 28 working in the Morris County Prosecutors Office in New Jersey and Federal Tristate Narcotic Task force.  He considers the most interesting facet of his career to be his 15 years in charge of the Morris County Narcotic Task force.  The first ten years of that beat, he worked undercover with frequent assignments to the DEA Task Force.

Tony is a member of the Frankford Radio Club (FRC), South Jersey DX Association (SJDXA), FOC, CWOPS and Old Barney Amateur Radio Club.   Contesting, DXing and ragchewing have been part of his life for the past 60 years.
