I got a late start as a HAM. I didn't get licensed until 1995 although I've been interested in Radio most of my life. Born and raised in Western Pennsylvania, I entered the USAF in 1966 and spent a 20 year carreer in Communications and Command & Control. Served several years as a Radio Op/Aircrew member aboard EC 135 Airborne Command Post aircraft. Two and a half years in South East Asia and the Pacific. I attended the Community College of the Air Force and Butler County Community College where my studies centered on Communications Technolodgy and Environmental Science. I retired from the Air Force in 1987 and went into the trucking business which eventually got me transferred to Memphis, Tn in 2004 where I managed a truck terminal for the 2nd largest tank truck carrier in the US. I lived there till 2007 when I moved back to Western Pennsylvania. I've had the opportunity to travel in all 50 US states, Guam, Wake, Okinawa, the Phillipines, Thailand, Japan, England, Mexico, Canada. I am now semi-retired and an active USAF MARS operator. I like to work DX, most all the digital modes, and rag-chew. My station is always changing, but today it consists of a Yaesu FT-991, an RCI 2995DX, Icom IC-7200 (with a home brew USAF camo paint job), and a Yaesu FTDX-3000. I also run a Harris RF-350K (RT-1446) with an RF-351 auto antenna coupler. I fly the American flag Every day. My other hobby is Jeeps and offroading.
